Heater motor fuse blowing

I have a 1979 300SD that had a ACC system that worked perfectly(yes even the ac) until two weeks ago. The heater motor had bad brushes (wouldn't run unless I tapped the side of the motor) I replaced it with a new unit from Phil.

It ran fine for a week then it blew #3 fuse. This is the fuse that control the ACC system.

I thought maybe the fuse was old, so I put in a new fuse and it lasted 5 minutes.

Any ideas....when it runs, it runs great but I can't keep #3 fuse from blowing

Thanks
Augusta

fuse problem

Did you sort out this fuse problem. Mine keeps blowing as well. The last one did not blow but started burning. I got a nice burn when I tried to remove it. I am in florida. Will need my AC at some point.

Mercedes actually makes a retrofit fuse holder for the fan circuit. It puts the fuse ouitside the main fuse box and uses a 30? amp strip fuse. Applicable to 126 models; probably your 116 also. Check the archives. Lots of info on it.

Obviously a common problem, if MB actually made a part to correct the fault. ;) You're not alone. ;)

Seized blower motor AND blown #9 and #3 fuse in my SD.

replacing motor because it is toast, but what'd cause two fuses to blow simultaniously?
