W123 Euro ride height.

This came up in another topic and I want someone to verify this. The ride height on both of the Euro's I have come across is identical, and about 4cm lower than every Federal one I have come across. Anyone have access to a Euro and Federal?

Like Tom said I wouldnt be surprised. Though 1.5 inches sounds like a lot to me. It still happens today, for example the 2006 VW GTI rides an inch higher in the US than in Europe. I guess we have more speedbumps and potholes in the states.

actually it is probably bumper height laws.

also if the shocks are worn, the gas escapes and the car rides a bit lower too. it is debated how much but it is visibly noticable.

on my 74 bmw bavaria, there was a 1" spacer on the front suspension that raised it up. i took it out and the car looked cool and seemed a bit more responsive but i hit curb stops in parking lots so i put them back in.

I found the difference! Tires! Duh. I love making myself feel stupid :).

I wouldn't trust height measurements on 25 year old cars to be representative of manufacturer specs.

I don't expect the conrods in my car to be representative of manufacturer specs either but that's a different story :)
