shift flair, hard shift, and delay into gear...the usual?

I just got an 82 td and it will delay going into D or R. It has a very hard 1/2 shift and a 2/3 flair. What should I go after first? Do I need a k-1 kit and if so where on the parts page is it?

Thanks

Do you have any other symptoms of vac leak, door locks not functioning, hard breaks, or engine not shutting off?
I would first go throught the vac system. Make sure you vac pump is supplying enough vac and that there aren't any leaks. Then I would make sure to check that the transmission modulator isn't leaking. Also make sure you vacuum control valve is functioning properly. If all that checks out you might look into a few things.
The B2 piston affects the 1-2 shifts, so replacing that may solve that problem.
The K-1 spring works on the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts and replacing that may fix you 2-3 problem.
The delay shifting into gear may be the bushings on the gear selector. Might look at those and see if they need replacing.

The door locks work fine and the brakes are working great. The car shuts off within 3-4 secs. I can remove the vacuum lines and hear it hissing. I will mityvac it later but I don't think it is lacking vacuum. I did notice that some of my rubber vacuum hoses are getting brittle so I can be leaking vacuum. I was thinking it might be the transmission modulator or what you also said about the b2 and k-1 spring. I have never replaced them before. Is it difficult?

It isn't too difficult from what I have read. I have never done it, but I do plan on doing my K-1 fairly soon. I have 2-3 and 3-4 flaring, but only when it's really cold out, and it goes away when the everything has warmed up. You do have to remove the ATF pan to get to both the B2 and K-1. I would replace both since you are in there. And you might as well drain the torque converter and put in new AT fluid and filter.

atf fluid

i was planning on changing the fluid out anyway, so this would be the perfect time. Other than that, the car seems to be running quite well. I picked it up for $1,250.
