617 Idle Vibrations
Hey everyone,
I've recently dusted off my gold 300SD and started working on it. After replacing the old rusted out rear control arm and swapping a set of tires from my buddy's parts car, she's almost road worthy again. Key word there ALMOST Lol: ![]() ![]() My dad said that the idle seemed to be a little rough. So I took a video to see how it compared to other 617s out there. Granted the car hasnt been driven a whole lot, largely due to a rusted control arm, bad tires and a rear window leak.. 1982 300SD @ Idle. video by JamesDean59 - Photobucket Since I've taken this video, I adjusted the idle up so that in drive it hit about 750 or so while in drive and it seems to be smoother. I still would like to see how it compares to others out there. Thanks! -Kris

You can try adding a little more tension on the rack damper. These engines when idle dead-smooth when everything is just right...
