Trip Odometer

Hi Guys,

I have read all the posts about repairing the odometer.

How about the resetable trip odometer? Mine used to stop counting at 99.9 miles, and reseting started the counting over. Now, after a reset, it stays at 0. So are there any tips or tricks to fixing the trip odo?

The mileage odometer is still working.

Thanks!

That's different, I haven't had one apart in a while, but there is a spring loaded mechanism that disengages the trip odometer gear from the main odometer so it will reset when you push the button. When you release the button it's supposed to re-engage the gears and begin turning. I would guess that yours is not re-engaging correctly when you release the button, or the lever isn't aligned with the button in the plastic cluster and it's jamming somehow. If you take a look, it should be obvious.

A forum member Diesel Giant has some good material here. And probably can be a further resource for information.

Well, I guess while I'm in there I can do some cleaning of the speedo and odo. I still would like to know how to fix the trip meter.

I finally have a digital camera so I'll take pics of the work.

I my experience almost all of the 123 probs with both the trip and main odo is that stupid pot metal gear. I have a pile of broken ones on my shelves.
