alot of times those are just factory or dealer screw ups. My grandpa's 190E is like that where the 190E badge is on the passanger side and the 2.6 is on the drivers side, but the car has the original paint.

EDIT: although i cant understand why he would claim 25mpg city and 30mpg hwy, how would he figure those numbers with a non-operating odometer?

The discription does say that it was repainted
a couple of years ago.
Maybe someone goofed and reversed the emblems.

Louis.

The passenger side turn signal lens is newer (darker) than the driver's side.

Theres no way a mistake like that would make it out of the MB factory...I bet 100% it happened when they repainted the car, it adds to it potentially happening that the badges are both about the same size and probably attach with the same mountings. The final inspection they do at the MB factory would have caught that in an instant.

But how would you explain my grandpa's 190E? its all original never been repainted or ever been in an accident. Ive also seen plenty MB's with the badges on opposite sides.

Also the W124 doesnt have mount points like the older MB's did, they would just stick on with an adhesive.

One part of the explanation is easy: at some point someone had the badges off for some reason, and put them on the wrong sides.
No way to know when and why, but it did happen. They do NOT leave the factory like that. Ever.......
