About 3 months ago I bought a '91 350SD with 212,000 miles on it - now it has over 214,000 miles, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can drive it at least another 100,000 miles, too! I'm doing everything I can to keep it running strong and clean, so.........

Wish me luck!

I'm the original owner of a 1991 350SDL (Teal & Palomino) in Florida. 181K miles now.

No major issues except for head gasket leaking externally, replaced at 177K miles, compression checked when gasket replaced, all clyinders within spec's, replaced timing chain as a precaution then too. Previous to that had windage tray in the oil pan fall loose, replaced oil pump as a precaution when tray was fixed. Rebuilt turbo around 100K miles (don't recall exactly what mileage was). Radiator and water pump replaced around 150K miles due to moderate overheating (cured).

Has been an excellent car, still looks and runs great, no plans to sell now.

The highest mileage Mercedes ever

interesting facts from Mercedes.com:

The current Mercedes-Benz High Mileage champ is Gregorios Sachinidis, a Greek taxi driver who holds the known record of more than 2.8 million miles in his 1976 Mercedes-Benz 240D.

The latest Mercedes-Benz to be recognized for surpassing the one-million-mile mark is a 1970 280SE acquired for the Mercedes-Benz Museum Collection from its original owners, George and Luzstella Koschel of Orange County, California. The Koschels bought the car new and drove it for 1,019,000 miles.

it is a torque monster! and revs adequately. but most of the time i could accelerate as much as i needed without pushing the gas down enough to downshift it.

what are you doing brian, building up a 126 series "bank"?

Seems like, every time I talk to him it seems like he adds another W126 to his fleet!

Still waiting for him to part with that poor SDL blue thats been sitting in his driveway. Man I sure would like another SDL.

You're not getting it. I just finished putting Euros in it and replaced three pods in the CC system. Have to put a set of injector line brackets and clamps on it and do the hood pad and this vehicle will be ready to go.

It's a terrific vehicle and I'll not easily part with it.

Now, the 350 on the other hand................
