w210 Loose Mirror repair

The flat springs that hold the mirror in place inside came loose after the plastic hooks that each spring rests on broke from the casing. I repaired them by drilling a hole and putting a little screw through the side of the outer casing right in to a small hole I drilled in the end of each spring. I used a small tube spacer to span the gap between the casing and the spring to maintain shape and integrity of the outer casing. You don't see the screws as they are on top of the mirror.

To remove the mirror

1. You have to pry the mirror off the roof of the car it is snapped in there with a big spring mounted in the center of the base.

2. Disconnect the cables.

3. IMPORTANT! Pop the infared sensor off the bottom of the mirror next.

4. Then pry the mirror front from the back it will come right apart. Be careful or the springs will fly out and you won't see where they come from..
