Oil leak in front seat
On the way home, I had to slam on the brakes for a crosswalk and when I did I heard a sloshing noise. It sounded like water was dropped on the car. It turned out to be (as I soon found out) a black oily liquid that sloshed all over my shoes, socks, and floormats.
NOT COOL I took the kick panel off and there was an oil slick on the back of the panel about 6 in tall and still wet. What is this? I suspect the oil for the instrument panel. I really don't mind the shoes, but those 300D mats were perfect

Probably the soaked mats shifting position.
Oil pressure line or gauge. |

leaking from ignition?
I have a steady leak that appears to be coming from my ignition. It could be the oil pressure guage I guess, but I stuffed a paper towel under my ignition and it has stopped it from leakign onto my pants.

You should fix it ASAP. It will only get worse.

Inside oil leak
I suspect your oil leak comes from one of two possible sources: the oil pressure guage on the instrument panel but more likely the master brake cylinder which is situated above your feet on the firewall. When I bought my 1982 240D three years ago, the master brake cylinder was leaking onto the floor mats and had been for a long time. I had to throw them out after replacing the master brake cylinder. That also might explain why the extra oil/fluid appeared after hard braking.

You've got oil in the vacuum lines. It's from a failed diaphragm somewhere. I think the first suspect in these circumstances is the shut off diaphragm.

Does tha car turn off? If not its the fuel cut off valve.

Bingo, even if...
... even if the car still shuts down, I vote that this is a classic symptom of a failed fuel cut-off valve that has only a small has a hole in diaphragm and this is allows the oil to be sucked up from the IP's lubrication and finds it's way out and drips from the old worn out rubber fittings on the ignition switch when the engine is shut off and vacuum is at zero. This happened on my 240D long before it got bad enough to cause the engine to be slow in shutting down. Stick a vacuum pump/gauge on the vacuum fuel cut-off valve on the back of the IP and you will see that it will not hold a vacuum as it should.
