Sir,

The gear box name is G1-18/5B

1st gear ratio 4.695:1
2nd gear ratio 2.401:1
3rd gear ratio 1.436:1
4th gear ratio 1.000:1
5th gear ratio 0.806: 1

reverse 4.078:1

The 1 st gear seems to be pretty heavy .... so I suspect that it is not what you are looking for.

However the company has supplied gear boxes for mercedes corp regularly

check out http://www.forcemotors.com/html/powerpack.aspx

------------------------------------------------

My user manual says in special features.

PISTON: Specially designed with cooling to under the crown by a cast gallery and autothermatic with first ring groove insert.

Des this mean I have an oil cooled piston?

please clarify this and also about the turbo charger wastegate in my previous posts. Is it just a bye-pass valve when excess pressure builds up?

Yes.

The wastegate just lets exhaust gas from the exhaust manifold by-pass the turbine and go straight into the exhaust pipe. That's why it's called a wastegate, it's wasting exhaust energy to control intake boost pressures.

Here are some good sources of a deeper explanation:

Will these 5 speeds bolt directly up to a 616 engine? How does in compared with the orginal 4 speed in terms of gearing?

It looks like first gear is a granny gear in this box. Not for a car.

I know for a fact that these gear boxes will bolt up directly to the OM616 clutch housing.

I think the 4 speeds are the TX-17/4

1st 4.2689:1
2nd 2.4617:1
3rd 1.4728:1
4th 1:1

reverse 4.380:1

These both the TX-17/4 and G1-18/5B bolt directly on to the OM616.

If you folks want a taller 1st gear they might be able to help you out from older stock.

I will put you on to the Senior manager for sales and service and if needed R&D manager and you can ask all the questions you want.

--------------------------------------

Can some one explain to me what oil cooled piston means? Also the description in my owners manual...does that mean my piston is oil cooled too ?

if you look at this picture you will see that a bracket that holds the rubber stopper for the left front suspension is not at the same angle as the right one ... therefore the bracket that was welded on top was not at the same height as the right one. some genius in the factory must have realized it at the time of assembling the body and decided to whack it with a mallet to make them the same height.

i noticed it one day when i was just putzing around. i was furious and wrote to the factory with pictures. they were kind enough to give me a new chassis and got it replaced free of charge.

this vehicle was sent as a test vehicle to israeli army, it did 800 km in israel before it came back. i got it afterwards. the turbo charged om616 is not available to the indian market

How did Ghurka get a turbocharged 616 if it's not available to the INdian market? Is the mfg. prohibited from importing them to the US?

i really do not think it can pass the safety standards in the US as it has no air bags. but the engine is euro III compliant as far as emissions are concerned.

as far as the vehicle , it is primarily aimed at the european market. sort of a poor man's g-wagon.

i had to write letters to the owner of the company and flew twice to the factory to convince them to sell me this car. this car i got went to the israeli army for evaluation... it had 800 km on the odo when i bought it from the company.

i dont think the manufacturer is prohibited to sell it any where ... but they make more money selling it to europe. the can sell it for more profit. they source quite a few components for the engine from MB-germany. so they want to sell it back to them to make most profit.... i guess
