lower oil cooler line 300SD
Hi all
A friend of mine needs to get his lower oil cooler line off his 84 300SD. I havent had to do this on my 83. He says that he has it loose on both ends but he cant get it out around the motor mount. Is there a trick to this? Thanks |

It took me about 45-50mins per cooler line to remove and install them when I did that job, and I had the motor mount removed!

No problem, essentially its "quite difficult" with the motor mount (and engine shock next to it) removed, but with those still in I would classify it as impossible.

You might even try removing the whole arm from the engine.

Pull the engine. That is how I did mine.

I can tell you that they will come out from behind that mount. The lower line is the easiest, so, remove that one first to provide you with extra room.
The upper line is a PITA and you need to "unwind" it from behind the mount. The opposite end of the line (the cooler end) will be pointing up in the air toward the rear of the vehicle when you finally get it to clear the mount. Getting the new one in place is even worse because you don't want to damage the end of the tube. Put some duct tape or packaging tape over the end of the tube (cooler end) because you'll have to shove it through the small space........and there is one point where you will swear that it's not going to make it........... ![]() |

Same here. I replaced mine while I had it on the cherry picker.
