Thumbs up MB Diesel #5 - Officially afflicted

Picked up another W123 diesel today, making 5 total inhabiting the premises which I imagine puts me solidly in the "I like these cars" category.

Local paper advertised it for $225 as a parts car, turned out to be straight and complete but with a few rusty spots such as the back of the trunk lid and a little wheel-well rot. Burgundy with Palomino interior, non-turbo runner needing a new shut-off pot. Aluminum bundts and new tires, tow hitch even and some extra bits-n-pieces thrown in. Oh, and a fresh factory rebuilt auto tranny installed at the dealer before the seller parked for the shut-off problem!

Sounds like a winner! The tranny alone pays for the car.

My affliction too .... I have four in my yard counting my driver .... why? .... because they are, I guess ... people have driven by, see mine all lined up outside like tin soldiers, all with their hoods up and sometimes actually offer me their own old and unwanted panzers. What a trip, eh?

There is a 1980 240D for sale locally. Auto trans. Mileage unknown. Interior is said to be in great shape. Some rust, apparently confined to lower areas.
Has new brakes and rotors (not sure about calipers). Car overheats

They are asking $500 - If anybody is interested, let me know.

I think they said it was red/burgundy in color with a tan interior

It was in The Ledger.

As for the GTG, I'm still looking at fall dates so hope to start putting ideas up soon. Probably by end of month.
