'81 300TD Oil Filter?
I was reading dieselgiant's oil change instructions and comparing my motor to the pix in the article. My filter looks more like the type I'm familiar with and not like the one in the canister in the article. Is this the way the engine was built or was something retrofitted by a PO?

The oil filter is at the back/left of the engine, near the brake booster. Be careful not to break the vacuum lines that are in the way when you remove the cover.
