The over-informed are getting out of control

I'm seeing more and more of insanity like this. Does everyone who owns a diesel Mercedes think their car is worth top dollar?

I like the description of the interior. I didn't know MBZ offered oatmeal as an interior color. Thats got to make this a rare find.

Wonder why he didn't mention that these cars go for a million miles?

Cheers,

Bill

Yeah - mostly on Ebay and Craig. Been collecting a few ofthe ads to match models I have (supportive price). There are still some sleepers out there. My Indy picked up a 1 owner 90's D for $500 from a BH'd lady. Asked him if he could sleep well - said he had to put a battery in it Nice car.

Bio and Vegetable fuel options for diesels in the news are not helping to keep it quiet.

And still the popular press says that there is no demand for diesel cars in the US.

well at least if mine gets totalled, and the insurance co. wants to see similar ones on e-bay etc. I could probably get full value, with all the jokers out there wanting almost sticker for some of these cars. LOL

If someone pays him his asking price then that is what it is worth. It only takes one buyer to establishe the price.

Why shouldn't it be 20 grand? Thats as much as an Accord with a buncha options. The Mercedes is a better car.

I wouldn't ever pay 20K for it but maybe someone out there with too much money will. Can't fault him for trying.

I am seeing the same thing in the local waterfront real estate market, people are seeing $$$$$$$ and getting greedy.

But one thing always holds true, the market will either correct and come back down. Or it will accept the new price reality and hold.

As a currant MB diesel owner I love seeing them go for big bucks. Certainly though except for a few exceptions it is still very much a buyers market in regard to any old MB. At least in my local area it is, and this holds very true with gas MB's. Which I think are currantly the best bargin out there at the moment.

Definitely true about the gas MB's my friend, look at those 300E, 420 and 560SEL prices... ridiculously low. Of course this means they fall into the hands of people who slap on 35 profile tires and 20 inch rims...

Yep, unless you drive a lot I think your nuts to pay a monster premium for a 300SDL(or any diesel MB), when in many cases a nicer 560SEL with half the mileage can be had at half the price, if not cheaper. Who cares if it burns more fuel, you can buy a lot of fuel with the change left over.

And a W126 is still a W126 regardless of whats under the hood.

I love this car, and I'd rather have it than my mom's 2000 Olds Alero (my old car), or my dads 1999 Ford Windstar, or almost any other car I've seen in the school parking lot. If I had to sell it, I'd say $50,000 minimum, the ease of repair, the amount of work I've already put into it, and just something about it makes me really never want to give it up.
