Question 1985 300d transmission,1st and reverse only

hi guys
just bought this 85 300 D
got the vacuum working better,smoother shifts so decided to step on it hard,
never did get into third so i slowed down and now all i have is 1st and reverse
did i just clog the filter? or is something out of adjustment?
any ideas are appreciated very much

Vacuum controls how hard the trans shifts.
The control cable controls when..disconnect that cable & the trans should be in 4th by 25 mph.

IF not then the governor is the most likely problem.

Kind of a wild guess here, but could the kickdown switch be sticking?

M.B. DOC - what do you think it means if you're in 4th by 25mph and the cable is connected? That's my issue.

I would suspect a valve body issue.
