new low sulpher diesel fuel

Should I expect any changes in the way my 1979 300CD runs on the new low sulpher diesel fuel in October?

If you have anything worse than a 1-2mpg drop and/or a few weeping fuel lines, I would be very surprised.

Consider that Kalifornia has been running ULSD for at least 12 days now.

ULSD made its appearance in this area a few weeks ago. I noticed a slight decrease in MPG's with the TD, a bit of a drop in power for the 240 [but I haven't checked MPG's yet] and my F250 pickup lost 5 MPG's. No power loss with the pickup though.

I always run PS from Wallys and will continue to do so.

Cheers,

Bill

CA has been running ULSD for a long time before that, ULSD first appeared in CA way back in 1985!

Yeah, Tom. That much. I thought I had calculated wrong but then I ran 2 more tanks, checking each one. 3 tanks in a row and all between 17.7 and 18.3:eek:

Only difference was ULSD. I buy my fuel from the exact same place all the time.

Cheers,

Bill

Thats just scary....I hope I don't get lower mpg's....diesel is already expensive...if we have to buy 20% more of it that will only make it worse!

Don't get excited yet. I haven't checked my cars MPG. Maybe it won't make that much of a difference like it did with my big block truck. I'll fill up the TD soon and report back. I ALWAYS get a minium of 28 MPG with that car.

Cheers,

Bill

Wow....28....drool. ;) I average about 22-23city and 25ish hwy at 75-80mph....I have managed 29-30.5mpg when I did all 55mph driving for the entire tank, but thats fairly rare.

GRRRRRRR

Is that what the hell happened? she had Diesel in her when I bought her then just as a test after running BioD for awhile I wanted to see if there diff in milage so I bought some D again, I really have only ran two tanks of D since I have owned her, but somewhere around the last part of the Aug the BioD plant down the street moved it's shop to SAN JOSER and I don't have a source for it close , so I have purchased D a few more times........... reluctantly only to find that I was loosing almost 3.5 miles to the gallon  I was ALMOST starting to get worried that I bought a lemon and she was slowly showing me so..........

The other thing I noticed is HOLY COW is it NEON, :D .

she seems to be idling just a tinge rough too?
Is that my imagination? am I becoming obsessed???????

What comes next??????.........who are these mongrols...and the BATS THE STINKING BATS I SAY!!!!

sorry a lil fear and a lot of ~Loathing~ got in my system:silly:

I'd say thats a more realistic data. I get the same with my 85. BTW, diesel at the station by me is running $2.79 "today".

Am sure many of you know about this site abut just in case.....

A vote of confidence for Bio D!

So, if I understand these figures correctly the loss of mileage is more than the loss when running B100 Bio? Wouldn't one think this would be a great incentive to put many more Bio plants around the country. If you add up the costs it looks to me like Bio is cheaper than ULSD dino. Am I correct? :D

yesterday I bought a tank of B15 (500 ppm) at a Pilot station for $2.74 and felt good
- now I see D @ $2.35 5 miles from me
