81 240D Seats

I finally was able to remove the front passenger seat and found that the rails that slide in the tracks are bent/twisted beyond my ability to straighten them. Looks like they're part of the support assembly and can't be pulled out.

I would like to know if there are any recommendations on where to get replacements?

Also, if I have to buy a complete passenger seat, can the lower part of the seat be used on the driver's side? The springs are bad there and I'd rather not have to buy two replacement seats.

In case I'm not describing the parts correctly I've posted a picture at: http://www.pacificstar.us/mb/rail.jpg

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

My son directed me to a junk yard, that had several old MB of all sort/years. I had to replace the female part of the passanger's seat. Now, both front seat belts work, and this makes my wife very glad.

then a couple of weeks ago, when buying diesel, a person, came up and told me he has several MB's in his junk yard, and if i ever need parts to drop by.

now both of these places are with 30 minutes of my home in Fayetteville NC.

I guess bottom line, there must be several junk yards, through out the states that have old MB for parts.

maybe some can start a database of type and people can post the know junk yards that have specialize in older mb.

WARNING!! That part about having a couple of wrecking yards where you can get parts now and then is the first sign of a serious disorder. The next phase is a "parts car" that has everything you need too fix up your "keeper". This addictive disorder can escalate into a serious problem. Actually you can sometimes find a "parts car" with good seats for what you'd pay in a wrecking yard for a set

I switched seats in my w123 with seats from... I cant remember what. maby an old 116. It worked ok i just had to shich the mounting parts on the bottom of the seats around a little. The seats themselves where prety similar. You should be able to find the parts you need w/o too much of a problem.

Carless.

I didn't have a car for six years. I bought an '84 300SD three years ago. Now I have six cars (all W123). Should I seek professional help?

Jay.

You may be able to find a support group in your area, I'm in rolled in a twelve step program for those who have more than six 123s. Next week we are trying some sort of "patch"
