Unhappy Trans fluid every where

So I pulled my car outside the gate here after work yesterday and noticed a few wet spots on the ground that were fresh. Well i have a 30 min drive to work each way so I figured I better check just to be safe. I walk around the front of my car and sure enough, trans fluid is pouring out from the lower front right side. It appears that the metal transmission line that is attached to the oil pan bolt via a rubber grommet and metal bracket has deterioted enough to the point where the rubber is gone and the metal trans cooler line was vibrating inside the metal bracket where it attaches to the oil pan bolt. Looks like I will have to rubber hose splice it until I can get two new metal trans lines and get it fixed right. Any suggestions on the metal lines? Might as well do both sides while I am under the car. Thanks!

Wrecking yard? A good tranny shop might be a source. Also, call Phil.

I am a wrecking yard and all of mine here are in almost the same condition. This is one thing I have never bought before. I will give Phil a shot. Thanks for the reply!

No prob! I just thought of something else that may be possible.

I have not taken a tranny line loose on the MB yet, so I do not know if the connection is a flared type or not.

Buy some stainless steel tubing, and bend it, and using your old connectors, make the proper flare for it.

My other 2 mercedes diesels have had this same problem but I have just cut out the bad part and replaced it with rubber hose. I called Phil and he can not get them. Mercedes wants $42.40 each and can have them Monday. I will check into seeing if I can make a flare and fix it myself first. Thanks for the idea.

Trust me been there done that. I tried splicing, rubber hose patch, making my own, etc... All I ended up with is a lot of sweat, swearing and more leaks.
If you want to avoid a lot of grief, buy the new line from MB. It's worth it. The most important thing is to replace the clamps on both sides while you are in there.

$42.40 each and you're set for another 20 years....what could be better insurance?

Just make sure they give you the right one...I had a heckuva time getting the one for the 123....took a few tries.
