Alda Line - Spring Clamps

Anyone know how to remove the spring clamps on the alda line? I've been pryinng with a screwdriver, but am afraid of breaking something. Any help much appreciated.

spring clamps? i think i know what ya mean if they are the same on the fuel lines, i used channel locks to compress the lil tab and let the tab open up more so the line could slip off

use a pair of good pliers.

Nice wide lineman's pliers, head on, or try needle nose from the side. Either way, squeeze tabs together and clamp will move as needed.

I ended up breaking the clip by trying to pry apart the two sections adjacent to the "tab" in the middle.

So, in the future, I take it that you are supposed to squeeze the clip in order for it to open?

In any casy, R&R'd the Alda line and noticed a slight improvement in acceleration. I haven't yet placed any sort of clip where the line goes into the vacumm thing - will get a clamp or something tonight. In the meantime, I assume there isn't any risk of the line being disconnected?

That critter is your turbo switchover valve. Mine was defective, and the PO by passed the switchover and directly connected the line from the banjo bolt to the alda by using some rubber hose. You are not supposed to do that. That is not a vacuum connection. The ALDA receives pressure from the turbo, and adjusts the fuel levels in the IP accordingly. Bypassing the valve can cause over fueling, which is a destructive thing.

Either clean or replace that valve. The way to test it is this, if you have it out of the car and the wires disconnected, you should be able to blow through it, If not, it's a goner. Replacement is of a different style, so do not worry difference in appearance.
