Switchover valve tubes

Does the line from the intake manifold goto the connection on the top or the bottom of the switchover valve?

The other line is the one that goes to the ALDA.

They were both disconnected.

Thanks

On which car? Mine had the old style that was a round one. I ordered a new one and have the same question, since the new style is squared with 3 ports. I put the ALDA on the bottom and the intake on the middle. The top is not covered or plugged. I bought it from Diesel Giant, and sent the question to him this morning. I usually have a reply from him waiting for me the next morning.

The one in question is the old round style valve.

The line from the intake manifold goes to the bottom of the valve.

The line from the ALDA goes to the horizontal port at the top of the valve.

Mine has been bypassed as well (1985 w123) and the valve has a 'cap' over the port that is verticle on top. When I replace this valve with a new one, is there a vacuum line that is supposed to connect there as well or do I simply remove 'cap' and tranfer it over to the new one?

Thanks...

That port is the vent. No line connects to the vertical port on the top of the valve. Remove the cap and transfer to the new valve.
