...adjusting the 2nd to 3rd shift up of my 81 300d auto trans

i could use the expert advice to make her shift correctly 1st is fine to 2nd . thats fine then a slowwww shift into 3rd.. i'm sure its vacuum . I "ve read the links and have the vacuum diags ...trannys fine kick downs fine . "step on it" is fine thru all 4.....just need to dial it in for the above mentioned.thx Buzz

I would verify the vacuum control rod is at spec. Thats the small rod at the rear of the injector pump that moves vertically and meters the vacuum supply. located behind the pump. Shortening its length would provide less vacuum and might firm up the 3rd gear? Make VERY slight adjustments. This rod is located just in front of the oil filter container and has a ball socket attachment at the bottom with a threaded adjustment. Log onto dieselgiant.com for a better description.
