loud clicking noise upon key on
What is this ? It makes a loud clicking sound upon a key on condition . sometimes it will be silent if I turn the key off and then back on , but will resume after I start the engine . This is a daily driver so I'd rather replace it before I have a problem .

Cruise control actuator
You're going to have a oily hood pad with the valve cover vent open like that.

Are you sure that's the one that clicks? When you turn on yours the GP relay clicks to activate the glow plugs. It's on the lower right of the photo.
Actually it's not in the photo, but in that direction and looks like a slanted rectangular box.
