Hard Shifting in a 1984 300dt

Hard Shifting
Ive replaced the dashpot, and changed the trannie fluid ,looking for vacuum leaks to the trannie, could this be my final problem? The car runs very good, but slow from a stop until you hit 2nd ,then it drops like dropping a clutch on a standard ,it pulls away then and I have plenty of power to go.Turbos are great.Any ideas on fix,the diesel giant recommends replacing those flappers on the throttle to vacuum line piece, sits on top of the valve cover,i dont have on their ,does the car have another location for this piece? It is a calif. car if that makes a difference .Oh yeah ,the pump feels like it might be light on vacuum pull.

If you changed the tranny fluid you may have to adjust the tranny modulartor, it may have needed it anyway, but only adjust the modulator if you know that you don't have any vac leaks.

As far as the levers on the valve cover- a lot of people plug those lines with BB's cause they are a good source for vac leaks and they don't really do a whole lot. I changed the levers and the 3/2 valves on my 300TD and it didn't change anything.
