tips on repairing "slightly cut" vacuum lines

So I accidently brushed up against a vacuum line with a jig saw. Needless to say I'm an idiot and now I have a pretty serious vacuum leak on my '85 300td. Does anyone have any tricks to reparing this small "nick" in the lines without replacing the whole thing. I was thinking about teflon tape, or epoxy or something. Any input would be great.

Thanks

Slip a piece of 1/8inch i.d. tubing over the wound.

Get some vacuum hose from an auto store. Cut the vacuum tube where the nick is and reconnect with the rubber tube.

Which line? If its the main just slap some JB Weld on it. If its one of the smaller plastic lines, you can just cut out the bad part and use a rubber connector to splice the two ends together.

Splice with rubber vacuum hose.
It's good policy to keep some of this hose and a few golf tees on hand for road side repairs in these old knockers.

Spare vacuum lines (rubber, at least) and a cutter come in handy here.

If you cut the hard, plastic lines, they can be purchased online individually, I think.

Heat-shrinkable tubing would also work, again depending on which line was damaged -- you have to slip the tubing over the end of the line, obviously. In an emergency, duct tape, of course.

My wifes car had deteriorated vacuum lines at the firewall, they had all been spliced with rubber hoses only to happen again. I replaced all the hard lines with parts from a donor car.If you can find a replacement I'd do it the right way.

Wait a second here, a jig saw under the hood of a MB? I don't think thats a factory approved tool!
