That IS sweet The exhaust manifold area is a little barren...it needs something to fill the space.

off road use only...

I checked - it's not on the list of vehicles eligible for import to the US (to be driven on the highway) so it can only be used "off-road".....was the TD ever offered in 4WD????

I think the seller must KNOW this, but chooses in his auction to display a lack of knowledge about importing and registering - you spend the kind of dough he's spending to ship it here and don't check the laws beforehand? I don't believe a word. He's hoping someone will buy it and then it is THEIR problem and he has HIS money.

He's Canadian & he's importing it to Canada. The car would be legal in Canada, as they don't have the stupid diesel emission laws we have that allow these jerks to drive their huge SUVs, but I can't buy a diesel in NY state.

Let the Finns get ahold of this one....

That is a good example of a bread and butter Euro MB. Those seats are nice, not the same color as the SDL but look pretty similer.

Brian wonder how hard this is to do? A 1999 S300TD would be just dandy in this country...

I had my eyes on a W140 S320 with a manual over in Germany. Sold for about $7K.

But, if the vehicle was never sold in that configuration over here, you'd have an impossible task of certifying it. There is no Federal emission standard to changeover to. I believe you'd be SOL with it. Never get it out of the impound.

No there has to be a way. People import Euro Ferrari's and such, why not a MB. Maybe as a kit car? Purchase one with a shot engine and do the swap over here?

Well, there are all kinds of underhanded ways to do it. But, if there is no certification of the vehicle by the Feds, then you've got to do the certification.........probably cost you 100K.........to comply with emission standards.

Actualy Noble imports all there cars this way. They don't meet federal crash and probably emissions standards by a long shot. I *think* with a kit car title you can get away with a ton. Then insurance becomes an issue.

Probably not realy worth all the hassle when an S320 will deleiver about the same performance.
