Defending your car

Does anyone have any ideas on how to defend a car parked in a risky location? The alarm I bought is obviously not working, and my car is still slowly looking more and more like every other nice car that goes into my school parking lot, keyed, scratched, stained, and getting nails in the tires. I want to get a bunch of cameras mounted in the car, but am far too broke to get them. A home made stun gun mounted to the body of the car would be nice, but I have no idea how to wire the return path for the electricty. Maybe I should just mud up my car and keep it super dirty instead of washing and waxing it weekly, at least those cars don't get vandalized as much...

Are you the one that flicked the bully off of your hood a few weeks ago?

Too many young stupid kids in high school for your car to be safe. Sounds like you need a beater/driver........

Yeah, but that has nothing to do with these problems, this stuff happens to every slightly nice car that comes into the lot. Less to my car than others due to the alarm and how protective of it I am.

I actually bought this car as a beater, but fell in love with it, and don't have anywhere near enough money to have 3 cars... My other car is now a shared car, sold half of it to my mom to pay for fixing up this car...

Any kind o booby trap is illegal in all 50 states for good reason. Cameras are the only solution. Perhaps you should just spend the extra bucks and find off street parking! My 83 taxi gets valeted every day at work hows that for ironic. Someone taking a taxi somewhere instead of the taxing taking someone.

Why dont you avoid the lot all together and park on a nearby street. When I was in HS I parked on the street to avoid door dings etc...

Now, I'm thinking maybe a proximity activated water squirter that will just shoot water in all directions, less of a booby trap, more of being extremely unpleasent for anyone that attempts to vandalize the car in the winter. Doubt anyone would bother calling the police because they got wet while trying to vandalize a car... I already have a sensor that chirps the alarm any time someone steps within 2 feet of the car, and thinking of making a cheap home made circuit that will say "Step away from the vehicle" and wiring that sensor into it. It also activates the alarm if someone comes within a few inches inches of the car. I have 4 180dB sirens mounted in all 4 corners of the car. Too loud for the schools security bum to ignore.

I hate to say it, but if you piss any of these guys off, they are going to make your car a mark to mess with. I like the idea of parking it off campus unless the neighborhood is really bad. Out of sight, out of mind. Maybe leaving it dirty will help, but I know that the three pointed star really does it for some people and even if it looks bad it is still a Mercedes Benz and they will want to mess with it.

It really sucks that people would mess with your car, but you have to deal with that type of mentality. Maybe the harder you make it, the more they will desire to mess with it.

The cameras sound like a good idea, but if you do get footage of someone keying etc. your car, then what do you do with it? Go to the principal and get him to suspend someone. Then when they come back, they will really have their sites on you. It really sounds like a no win situation. I know this may sound sacreligious, but how about leaving your car home and riding the school bus? That is one sure way to keep your car safe.

This worked for me as well. There was a side street that me and a bunch of other people parked on. Usualy these were the people with cars they cared about, so no issues in 2 years of driving to HS.

Now at college I bought the SD as a hedge, there is no way for a car not to get trashed at school. So the SDL has limited exposure there.

certainly not a techinical thread. although a pager on the alarm might solve the issue.

BEWARE, talking cars PISS PEOPLE OFF!!!

No, no, don't park it on campus anymore.

The guy you bucked off of your car is almost 100% certain to be the SAME guy f**king your car up now, and he has a hard on for that car, he will keep f**king it up over and over, probably forever. He is enjoying his revenge with each scratch, each nail in the tire. His rage will never end and your car will suffer every time he sees it and no witnesses are around. Get used to it and dissappar your car right away.

DO NOT build an alarm circuit that makes the alarm say "GET AWAY FROM THE CAR"

Those first came out about 15 years ago. I was at work and I overheard a co worker say she was with her friends and they walked by a new Corvette
and the alarm went off, "GET AWAY FROM THE CAR", and she said, laughing:

SO, WE THREW A BRICK THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. She was laughing so hard. AND, she was a black woman, over 50 years old. If SHE a middle aged working black woman would do it, you can imagine the reaction of someone young!!!

The best alarm is one that is not needed, where the car is not seen by these creeps
