The G-Tech Pro (at least the older unit) is reasonably accurate, but it's susceptible to setup error. It has to be perfectly level, perpendicular to direction of travel, can't compensate for suspension squat, etc, etc. But, when set up properly, it's within a few percent of actual. I did extensive testing at the dragstrip with both a G-Tech Pro and my RaceTech AP-22 unit in the car. I could dial the AP-22 to be within 1% on both time & speed. The G-Tech was suprisingly close on times but was off on speed, possibly because it indicates actual speed at the end, where the timing lights average speed over the last 60' (and the AP-22 does this too, AFAICT.)
Full details of testing the G-Tech and AP-22 against the timing lights are in post 12 in this thread: http://www.500ecstasy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=915 You'll need to register to see the attached photos & docs, though. |

This isn't the first time that i've tried adjusting the shift points via the bowden cable. In addition i've also messed with the vaccum modulator on the trans. Could this be where my problem is?

The shift points are controlled by the valve body... when was the last time you changed the fluid & filter (due every 30kmi)?
