OM601 injection pump question
Howdy,
While attempting to change out my shutoff servo--where is that darn crowsfoot set anyway--I noticed that there is another servo on top of the shutoff valve. What exactly is this? There appears to be a tube sticking out that fits a vacuum line but nothing is hooked to it. Any feedback? Thanks, Sholin

If it's a square device about 3" to a side, it's probably an altitude compensation device aka ALDA. It reduces fuel delivery in proportion to atmospheric pressure; meaning lower atmostpheric pressure = less fuel.
If it's in the way of getting to the shut off valve, you can pretty safely rotate it with channel lock pliers. To remove it, there are 24mm wrench flats under the square section and a nut that takes a 27mm wrench on the IP. Hold the 24mm flats and loosen the 27mm nut. At some point you'll be able to spin the device off the IP. Sixto 93 300SD |

Sixto,
Yup, that's what it is. The picture of the pump in the manual is way out of proportion so I didn't identify it as such. On the 601, it is round and on top of the stop servo but I think the servo can be removed without first removing the ALDA. But to remove and replace the stop servo, I'm going to need a crows foot to get to the bolts. On the 601, the intake manifold sits over the injection pump which makes getting to the stop servo a bear. sholin
