1984 300D Turbo stranded in hawaii

Aloha all,
I am a recent infant into the MB reality and am in need of some urgent advice. About 2 months ago, I purchased "Pearl," as she's called, for $2000. It caught my fancy months prior and I wanted it. It's had a veggie oil conversion and had a slight transmission problem which I've come to find out is common in the 1st/2nd gears - flaring as its called. I've been using slip prevention fluid, as that was what i was told to use by the previous owner, and did so, frequently. after a long and winding trip to the other side of the island of big hawaii, it started have some serious slips in between gears...it would just rev out and not accelerate. i'd take the gas off and try to re-engage @ a 50/50 chance that it'll take.

yesterday, as i was driving down the road, the car lost all power no matter how much i accelerated. i pulled over...i tried to re-start the car, it would turn over, but not keep. some locals came by, gave me some fuel, put some oil, which was black and low, and i added some transmission fluid. it would start for a second, and then die.

to say the least, i'm extremely disappointed. i'm considering just selling it rather than putting up the money to get it repaired. however, i'm not even sure if it's worth keeping it all. what would you do? any pointers or advice would be much appreciated....

stranded in hawaii,
angela

Sounds like the fuel filters is probably causing it not to start/run. Could also be clogged tank screen, but filters are far more likely.
This will have nothing to do with slipping/flaring tranny. After you get it started and running, check the tranny fluid with the car hot and running. It is bad to have either too much or too little tranny fluid (oil to really, but anothe subject).
And, most importantly, if you're gonna be stranded somewhere, you picked the right place.....
