Exclamation oil change, down oil presure high?

just got an oil change at the place the my whole family goes to. SSDD, cant get the parking brake off, cant open the hood up. always the same thing

any whooo

after my oil change i drove the car for 15 miles, both slow and fast because my oil gauge was showing it was really high.

so im kinda stumpped, dose anyone know why it could be so high?

at regular temp the pressure gauge shows a little bit bellow 30 lb/sq in

but now its showing almost up to 45 lb/sq in which is the highest my gauge goes

what gives??

never bring your car especially a mercedes benz diesel to a chain type oil change place... never.... i dont know about your chasis but the W123 om617 is pegged at 3bar when driving and settles to 1.5-2 bar at idle

Pegged oil pressure gauge is normal. The only times it should be under full pressure is when the engine is warm at idle or the engine is off.

If it is unusually high at idle, check that they did not overfill it.

How accurate is the W123 oil pressure guage? Is it a real guage, cause with my mom's new Mazda, I thought hey, cool an oil pressure gauge. Then I was reading about it and the way it works is that at idle it'll not have much pressure, but when you give it some gas it'll just shoot up. Kinda like those "fuel economy meters" some W126s and BMWs had.

It ties directly into the oil system. There is a line running from the oil filter housing to the back of the instrument cluster so it is taking a direct reading. Its not an idiot gauge.

i think the oil presure gauge is real, cause everyone talks about how they get leeks from the gauge cluster containing oil

also, i know its normal for it to peg when u give it gas

im saying that when its ful warmed up and at idle, the gauge is not going down to normal. its usually a little less then 3 bar, granted it has been cold, but thats no excuse for it almost being at 4 bar when fully warm.

the place i take it to, i have taken it to since i got the car in jan. i watch them very carefully, and trust them for the most part, but i think im going to have them change it in the winter, and ill change it in the summer. hopefully i can get a beater so i dont have to drive my car in the winter.

Why don't you check the engine oil level to make sure they did not overfill it? I used to go to a shop to have them do my oil change (provide my own oil and filter). But I eventually hated their service and did them myself. I just did the filter and oil change on the sedan, my oil pressure is normal, and I have no worries.

kinda hard for you to check anything with hood stuck

did they break the hood? and the E brake? Maybe I missed something in your post, but it sounds difficult for you to find out what is wrong. if you find the oil is correct level, possibly your oil cooler is stuck wide open. in your cold area, this would keep the oil at the higher thickness. if this is the case, you could cause problems for your motor. How cold is it up there at them moment? if it is below the teens you probably don't need the oil cooler at all. try blocking off JUST THE OIL COOLER with some cardboard and see if it makes any differance.
Just an idea, but hey that is what we are for.

An even better question might be, "What brand and grade of oil did they use?"
