Early 240D quick glow plugs. What's in the kit?
My '77 240D has the early series, loop style glow plugs. As colder weather hits, it is more hesitant to start cold.
I have heard about the QUICK GLOW retrofit kit. What comes in the kit and approximately how much $$? Do you still use the existing relay? I have checked the valves and all are good. Good battery and starter is healthy. Car has 142,000miles. I have wondered if the Automatics cause more drag on the starter when cold. With a stick, you can push in the clutch.

Kit comes with plugs, wires to connect the new plugs together and a relay I think. All you really need are the plugs. You can make your own jumper wires to go from plug to plug. Put in the new plugs, disconnect the ground wire at the most forward plug, hook the rearmost plug to the glow system and put jumper wires between the plugs. I did this on my 77 300d and the quick glow plugs are much better. They don't waste any current in the heavy wires that go with the series plugs. The newer turbo starter will also spin the engine faster if that is what you want.
