Bah ... backed into ... which part??
Some guy backed into my 85 300 D. Smashed the passenger side front turn signal (broke the plastic mount tabs too, so the whole unit fell out). AND, cracked the clear housing around the headlights (just that clear, flat frame thing).
Question: what the heck do I need here? The guy is paying so I want to get the right parts here. I have poked around on the parts pages and am a little confused ... 1) Does the turn signal lens (about 70 bucks) include the mount for the bulb and the click-in plastic tabs? In other words, is this the complete unit that plugs into the wiring harnesses and clicks in the opening there now? 2) Can I order that clear plastic headlight facia thing on its own? The headlight units are big money. Dont want to do that to this guy. THanks. |
You will need the turn signal lense assembly, plus the turn signal lense socket $15, which the bulb fits into and has the plug for the harness on it. So the whole signal setup is about $85. And for the regular headlight assembly it does appear that its all sold as one big $311 unit. You could call phil and see if the separate plastic piece is sold separate, but its probably not. Another option is to find one in a junkyard. Or use superglue and fix the cracked one. We did it to one of ours.... :D

do a parts search for "headlight doors". one will run you about 70 - 100 dollars (and being brand spanking new, won't match your old one, sorry)

The signal light assembley might be cheap at an auto wreckers or on ebay. With a little luck they may even have a good headlight door. There should be lots of the signal lights around. As for the headlight door. A pair new go around a hundred dollars on ebay from time to time or a pretty good used one on ebay may not be too bad. You did quote you wanted to be reasonable with this guy. Phone around.

Call Phil...
The headlight door is seperate, I payed around $80 a piece last year. The turn signal housing is the whole thing. You would still need the socket. |
Thanks folks. Headlight door. Of course

Louis. PS: Since the guy is paying you can just go to the MB dealer. They should have everything you need and with not fitment problems. |
