I hope you are kidding about the crusher. Body looks pretty straight in the photo.

I think he is gloating about the great deal he got on a car someone else was sending to the crusher. At least I hope so. If not, I'll give you $250. right now and come pick it up.

$300 if it runs good, I could use another winter ride. Want to trade for a rusty yet trusty 300SD?

The car is an ex-Florida car and has some floor rust, the paint looks fairly new. Reverse wont engage so the PO bought a parts car and was going to swap out the trannies. He gave up. I saw his ad as I am looking for a tranny for my '78 300D. He wanted a bunch for the the car, parts car and tranny. I called to see if I could just by the tranny. He said, screw it, take it all for $300....

I had a '76 230.4 gas guzzler (literally - fuel economy wasn't very good) that died what I thought was an untimely death (less than 100K on the clock). I also bought it with "a little rust in the floor" - the car would have killed me if the subframe had dropped 10 minutes earlier when I was on the freeway.

Here is a link:

Of course I said I was done with vintage MB's after that. At least until I found the '79 240D that is following me home this week.

Here are some more pics. Yes I know the rain makes the paint look better than it is.... I'll save the pics for ebay.... I email pics to the wife and she loves the car, so you guys may have some serious competition for it....

Since we're on the subject of cheap cars to run or part, anyone got a good 123 body, 240 or 300 thats not rusted up a bunch cheap w/title? I'm afraid my old rust bucket wont have but a few years in it, interior is pretty good, car is complete and all works but the a/c, just the body has so much rust everywhere I couldnt catch it all in time if I tried, oozing out the welded seams....in the quarters, doors, rockers, undercarriage....replaced LF fender when the bumper trim fell off (with remains of mount points attached), RF is just about as bad but will stay there as I dont want to spend another 6 hours @ the wrecker trying to loosen a fender with a screwdriver and razor knife........been a lot easier if they'd let you heat up the glue with a mapp gas torch....guess I can't complain, the car was free.....

Benz Crusher,

Your inbox is full so I thought I would post this here.

Hmmm I don't exactly remember.

My 74 had the oil bath filter and since I never got it running I never replaced it. Plus it was metal so I think they lasted quite a while and just replaced the oil.

My 76 had the same filter as yours (barely fits there on the port side just front of the wheel well) and I was missing the whole housing so when I ordered a new housing I got a new filter with it so I have no idea what the price is.

I do remember looking though and there were way more brands than K&N. Let me look for you and I'll see what I can find.

Jason

Found one, but only one. I could not find anything for the 75 but I could for the 76 and I'm pretty sure they are the same unless you have the bath filter in which I would look for 74 or before.

Ohh by the way it was only 15 dollars much different than 45

Yes it has an oil bath filter. I haven't delt with these in a long time, do these filters get cleaned (ie. in gasoline) or do I just leave it alone?
