Engine Mount Bolts

Does any one know where I can get replacements for the 8mm allen and the 6mm allen engine mount bolts?

I need both 8mm and 1 of the 6mm.

Thanks!

Dealership. Might take couple of days.

I bought the 8mm bolts at the dealer. About $3 each, and it took 2 days.

I found a perfect match for the 6mm bolt at Home Depot. Under a dollar for two.

Typically, most medium sized cities and larger will have fastener supply houses. We have one here (city of just more than 120,00) that stocks tons of various meteric fasteners of various hardness.

A supplier such as that should have exactly what you need.

Now comes the fun part of finding an extractor, too.

I was able to remove 1 mount and both shocks. The PO's mechaninc had the 8mm so tight that the 1/2 impact would not budge them. So, I pulled out the 24 in breaker bar. The driver side 8mm popped like crazy, but came out. It's partially rounded. The right side just rounded out. So, once I figure out how to remove the bad bolt, I can replace both of them.

The reason I need a 6 mm is because the PO's mechanic used a 12 mm hex head bolt instead of the 6 mm allen.

The engine shocks were a different matter. On the passenger side, all the rubber was missing. On the driver side, the shaft was snapped off.

Does any one know off hand the size and thread pitch of the 8mm? I do have a Fastenal near by.

I have part numbers now...the 6mm bolt that attaches to the frame is 007984-008-003. The 8mm that you get to from underneath is 123-990-02-12.

I hope this info helps. I live an hour away from the nearest MB dealer, so I was hoping to find then online. Oh well...

Penetrant?

Soak 'em with penetrating oil or PB Blaster for a couple hours, then tighten them first before you try to remove. Usually that will help break 'em loose.
