This engine is going in an old Land Rover and I have a couple of questions...

This pot is on the top of the injection pump and looks like two vacuum lines go to it. I'd guess it's part of the cruise control (that is not being used in the truck this engine is going in) but I'm not sure. Can someone tell me?



The second question is this engine has a fair amount of oil build up on the side of the block under the intake manifold. The intake was pretty loose and I'd guess this and the valve cover is where most of the oil is coming from but I also noticed a corner of the head gasket is missing. I cleaned it up to make sure it doesn't expose an oil galley, which it doesn't, but it still makes me nervous. Think it's something I need to worry about? I'd hoped not to have to pull the head on this engine.
