Is this worth $5000? Supposedly overhauled engine 2000 miles ago.

Ad says: 1981 MERCEDES-BENZ 240 D FOUR-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION DIESEL 4 STROKE14 INCH RADIAL TIRES ALL-SEASON BECKER AM/FM PLAYER AIR CONDITIONING. ENGINE HAS BEEN REBUILT 2,000 MILES AGO

Who "rebuilt" the engine?

This is the BIG question.

And if he spent all that money to rebuild it, why is it going to the sale block so quickly?

The car should have virtually no rust to approach this price. Generally I have not had to buy repaints either. Even in my older examples of 123s with the exception of one. Probably a hard call with a michigan car. If any where near this price one might preffer to source a car out of arizona for example if it was taken care of. Condition is almost everything.

it would only be worth it to me if it were a rust free southern car with fully functioning ac and otherwise perfect mechanically. by perfect i mean correct functioning with good bilstein shocks and fine tires.
