Intermittant low oil llight
Was driving down the road today and noticed the "low oil" light was on. I immediately let off the accelerator and looked at the oil pressure gauge. OP gauge showed 3 bar. Looked back at the light and it flickered and went out. I have never seen this before (in about 10K mi. of ownership). Stopped and checked the oil, it was halfway between full and add. Is the sending unit going or just a loose wire somewhere? :silly:

Join the club.
My '86 has a constant light as soon as the engine warms up. It might go out on a curve or a grade. It also sits between the marks. I believe a new sending unit will fix the issue, but, haven't done it as yet. |
A new sending unit "might" fix it, but more than likely the circuit board in the cluster has a capacitor that's gone bad. This is a common failure mode for the older vehicles with the low oil level indicator. I fixed mine by soldering in a later model circuit board. This gentleman can fix them and other ailing MB electronic devices. I know and trust him.
