Flat-Cut Injector Nozzles
Has anyone heard of the Bosch DNOSD261 flat-cut nozzles? Apparently they are supposed to be compatible with the 617s injectors. Someone on the infopop veggie board reccomended them for use with SVO, and I was wondering if anybody has ever used these in their 617 diesel? I think the idea is to improve efficiency by having the flat spot provide a "pre-injection" that acts like a pilot light to ignite the main shot of fuel that gets injected slightly after. This might result in more power/greater fuel efficiency or both? When/if I get into testing and/or rebuilding my injectors, I might check into this, just wondering if anyone has seen this before.

I think you mean a type of pre injection. Never heard it called flat spot. The older engines did not have this the later 617 did and was supposed to reduce injector knock.
This is what I have been told.

I meant there is a flat spot on the pintle (correct terminology?-I mean the part that moves in the nozzle) that allows a little bit of fuel to inject before the main charge... Do you know what year these nozzles were implemented?
