Center link/Drag link Replacement W123

Need to replace the center link on my car (doing the damper too). One side of the center link is very obviously worn, you can see the nut move while pushing on the front wheel. The question I had is when I go to remove the nut holding the link in, is the whole thing going to turn on me? Should I go get a nut-cracker now and avoid the whole issue or does the stud stay in place while removing the nut on top.
Thansk for any and all advice.

The stud should stay in place. If not, clean it real well and look hard. The end of the nut should have a spot for an allen key to put a counterhold on the stud, while you turn it with a wrench. Have fun!
