What do you think ?
I found a 1979 300td it has been sitting out in the open for 2 years possibily 3The person who is selling it for a friend said it ran well, It has 240,000 miles if the odometer is corrrect . I can get it for $400. I don't know any more than that. Should I go for it?

body condition? interior? SLS? more info.

Make sure the engine turns over by hand. That sounds like the same situation I was in a year and a half ago. Now, look @ my sig.

Sometimes these deals work out well and sometimes otherwise... Ask them why they parked it for starters... Do they mind if you get it running before buying it? I would try to avoid a four hundred dollar parts car if you do not need it... So much depends on how ethical and knowledgeable these people are... It might be a really good car for the moiney but it is kind of up to you to find out one way or another. Just nice to know before you pay. General indications are important. At 240k the interior should not be trashed for example. Also have a good look for rust all over and under the car. Check the floors under the carpets for wetness and if there the resulting rust. A lot of these cars leak water into the interiors. It is always buyer beware pretty well.
