79 240D motor with upgraded glow plugs

I have an 82 240D, which is set up for newer pencil style glow plugs. I am installing a motor out of a 79 240D which has the older style glow plugs. Can I simply install the newer fast glow pencil glow plugs and run them off of the stock relay on the 82? or do I have to install the complete fast glow plug kit?

The later engines glow plugs won't fit.

If the '79 is the origional engine configuration, You will need to buy 4 of the large hole pencil type, fast glow plugs.

If your '82 is an automatic then you will have to set up for your trans vacuum supply on the '79 engine.

I think a member might still have a set of bushings to reduce the hole size to fit the pencil type glow plugs. Not sure mind you and I might be wrong but drop me a private message and I will give you his name. I do not think he will mind your inquiry.

ahhhh, shoot, I missed the 82 part... thought it had been converted like mine was. yeah, you can use the relay and wiring that is in your 82, but you will either need adapters, or large thread pencil GP's to fit in your head from the 79 motor... sorry for my oversite.
