transmission slow to engage

When going from park to drive there is a pause before the trans engages. Going from drive to reverse also. Anyone know if this can be adjusted out? It kinda of slams too when engaging....

check fluid

If your Trans. fluid level is low, it will engage slower. Also, spent fluid doesn't help. Depending on where you are, if the fluid is very cold and viscous, that will cause the same symptom.

Good news for diesel owners...There's no such thing as cold...only the absence of heat!

I've had the same problem for a while. I just changed my fluid and filter, and it's still happening. The fluid leve is correct.

I did notice that the shifting is a good bit more smooth (esp. 1 to 2)
