After looking at those pictures a little closer I'm wondering if that interior is leather or MB Tex.

It looks awful good for 26 year old leather. My leather looks brand new because it was replaced by the PO a few years ago. But that car seems to have the look of Tex.

I could be wrong. What do you guys think?

that is simply one of my favorite paint colors on these cars!! If it had green interior there would be a plane ride in my immediate future.........

yeah..I was gonna mention the rear bumper too. I love the exterior color and the interior looks great. Mom lives in CLE but she'd never pick it up for me as I would love a W116 of my own.

The odometer looks a bit sketchy too. I've rebuilt mine and the numbers are more aligned than that.

There might be a few surprises hidden there.

Make sure the climate control works!! They are an expensive nightmare if they don't.

The Russian MB code look-up site says the interior code is 204 which is saffron leather.

Why do people not post engine photos?????
Because that would give the game away. You can tell a lot about the condition of the car from the engine bay, IMO. If the car had been repainted, it's not likely that the engine bay would have been touched. And you can get an idea of how much road salt the car has seen by looking at the engine and the valve cover etc.

WOW!
I can not believe that it sold for $5350! I could not see any more than $2500 and that is with heart before brain.

diesel junkys unite

I feel your pain. My first MB was a 82 300D I baught off ebay 3 months ago. I love it so much I had to have a SDL if I could find one in GREAT Condition. Funny what you can find when you become obbsesed.

I think my 14 year old needs a 190D. He agrees but wants the 2.6 gasser AMG

Yes, it does make one wonder. Fleabay is getting tiresome nowadays, what with people charging absurd shipping plus the vauge pictures and descriptions on many listings. Now that they took the high bidder id off the "my ebay" page. it's even harder to detect shill bidders. Last week, I had a lady claim she never got payment and would I send her another money order? Yeah, sure I will. It's a good thing I sent it certified mail, she was just miffed because her item sold for a low price(Cadillac factory service manual $8.00).

I wonder if it would have sold for less if there wasn't this thread in shopforum... I know that if I was hunting for a car on ebay I wouldn't want my vehicle of choice to receive advertisement here ;-).

I would not have been suprised if it had sold for more.

There was a 1980 300SD with 80 some thousand miles on it but with an interior not in quite as good shape that sold for just under 10k last spring.

The general public is willing to pay more for these cars than the bargain shopper crowd that hangs out on this forum.

I can tell ya this, it would take more dough than this one brought for someone to drive mine away!

Long as there is no rust thats a fair price. Those are the W116's that will hold there value, 100% rust free.

so about that CC servo

Everyone mentions the w116 climate control and how expensive it is to fix. So what goes wrong and about how much does it cost to fix it yourself? Always wanted one, but want to know how bad it can get.
