Opinions please - Brake disc manufacturer: Balo vs. Ate?

I’m being lazy – too many postings to sift through when using the search function…

Which manufacturers are actual OEM’s for MBZ? Or, perhaps a different question: what are your experiences between Balo versus ATE? (or other manufacturers) Longevity, propensity to warpage, etc., etc.

Thumbs up

Have ATEs on the front of the SD and Balo on the rear. Same quality. I got them for next to nothing is why I have OEMs on there.

Just bought all Wagner stuff for my SDL (rotors and pads). No noise. No dust. Lifetime warranty. No brainer there for about $30 more total.

I became very tired of the excessive dusting caused by OEM pads. My SDL stops equal now as to when it had OEM pads on there.

BE SURE to replace your brake lines while you're in there. Cheap to do.

ATE Powerdiscs on mine and Zimmerman Cross Drilled on my dad's (up front) his rear are PBR and my rear are Balo. PBR organic plus pads on his all around, and on my rear brakes, my front ones are OEM MB pads. Lots and lots of dust, but they still have about 60% remaining after over 30k of hard braking/driving on them. Very impressive!

I'm going to all Zimmerman cross drilled because they look so cool! Don't forget to paint the hat, so it doesn't rust.

We didn't paint them and they already rusted...

I will probably paint mine when I eventually switch to cross drilled though.

Paint is just for looks, if you have wheels that show off the brakes this is important.

Ate

Got a good deal on ATE's from local store and seems to be fine so far. Put it in last year on the C220.
