Ok, i've bought the fluid and now i want to change it, what's the best way to pour the fluid into the diff without spilling it all over the floor guys?

The pump is the only way to go. It will look like you can pour it in but you can't. What a mess it will be , get the pump.

Make sure you open the top hole first and then the bottom...you would hate to have no fluid in the diff and then cannot get the top hole open for the refill...

The mobil 1 synthetic gear oil comes in a tall pointed bottle with a little tip on it, works perfect for putting it right into the diff. Yet another reason to use Mobil 1 You just squeeze the bottle and it all squirts right in there, I didn't spill a single drop when I did it, and it was with no pump at all. So far I have changed it twice on both cars. Differential's are way quieter and smoother now. Huge difference!

Hot tip....!!!

I use Rotella HD gear oil, comes in the same type bottle as Mobil 1, and many others...

However, I use pump up bug sprayers....buy them on sale during winter at various places like Home Depot, Lowes, WalleyWorld......modify/cut off end of sprayer stalk (attach some clear plastic tubing).....fill with your favorite fluid....pump it up, and squirt it wherever it needs to go......My Ford F-150 uses ATF in it's transmission, and is a PTA to fill, but the bug sprayer makes the job a snap.....have one with 85W140....tractor and power wagon have at least 8 sumps between them....learned this trick while working on outboard motors....

Hope that this helps a tad...

You wanted a photo.....here ya go.....kinda simple ain't it.....this one is my 85W140 Gear Lube jug....

If ya really wanna get crafty, you can make adapters from pipe reducers and hose barb fittings....custom for each sump......I just have a coupla different hoses that I shove onto the wand......black hose shown, a clear hose can show flow.....

The biggest problem that I have on these "windey hilly lonely little roads" is that they are all speed limited at 55mph....and the deer population is out of hand.....the independent rear suspension, and 4 wheel disc brakes combined with a very heavy ol' Benz makes the durn car wanna travel at 70mph or so....so I have to be careful on nice days with the sunroof open, keep slowed down and alert for those deer...

Bah be men! Lay under the diff and let whatever you spill land on you so it doesn't stain the floor! You guys are a bunch of Sallies worried about a little gear oil landing on you!
