603 Aux Fan Switch in a 617: Will it fit? (pictures)
I am pretty sure my continually run-on auxiliary fan on my 85 300SD is because of a faulty Auxiliary Fan Temperature Switch that is sticking.
When hunting around for the proper part I happened across a thread discussing the 603 fan switch / AC cut off switch (part number 006-545-42-24). I would like to replace the Auxiliary Fan Switch on my 617 with this 603 item. I could then wire in the A/C cut off for when the temp reaches 110 c. My read of the wiring schematics for the 85 300SD is that there is no AC cut off for high coolant temperature - just for low refrigerant pressure and low temperature (to prevent freezing). I don't think it is a bad idea to have it. My question is are the threads the same size? They look the same just from eyeballing the pictures, but before I plunk down some money on the idea I'd like to get a better feel about it.
