Don't even THINK about buying that one.

It has been overheated and head gasket failed?

RUN, do not walk, away from that car.

As you are running away, repeat to yourself many times that "there is no such thing as a cheap Mercedes Benz."

IF there are rust bubbles, there has to be more rust lurking about in other areas. Also, the ABS light on is a concern. The car can be considered a "low mileage" vehicle. Even so, it seems like it has some problems that are not consistant with its age and mileage. Price seems too high. If you are interested, have it checked out by a good MB indy, before any money changes hands. Have the rust issues checked also. See if you can talk them down even further, or have them make all the repairs. If they do the repairs, make sure they did not just remove the ABS light bulb. Nothing is more expensive than a cheap MB.

Head can be cracked as well. $5000 is too much IMHO.

You would be better served looking elsewhere, it sounds like.

Before u make any further decision on this car, readup on the extensive problems with these W140s.

If after reading all the posts on the subject in this forum, u still feel u have an interest in the car, my advice is to look for a doctor who can talk u out of it.

If u still feel u need to buy it, then go for it!

They're great when they run well. But, they are predisposed to bending a connecting rod. If yours happens to do this, you're staring down at $6K-$8K to get it replaced. The engine needs a complete overhaul at that point.

Sounds like the typical needs TLC W140. If you want a project and to burn some money they are ok.

Considering how attractive the prices are on the super low mileage mint examples these days, I just don't see the advantage of buying a bargin.
