Well. I'd be interested... but it's not exactly clear what is going on here. I heard someone is interested and they have a 300td. (" I'm definitely interested in the springs for my 300td,") Is that the same as a 300TD? Is a set four springs or two? ("yep, $280-300 for the set.") Are they for the front or rear or both? Let's hear what is being offered in black and white- for example:
Four "performance" german made springs for a W123 sedan. Stiffer than stock giving better handling in cornering and highway lane changing. Will also fit turbo coupes but not wagons due to stock SLS. Wagons may order front spring only- must specify.

Please note this is not the official offer... just what the offer may look like since no clear description to myself has been made other than cost and they are made in Germany.
Thanks
William

Apologies.. thought things were reasonably straightforward. This group buy is a first for me, and not trying to hustle anyone.
Just looking for some modern performance gains at a good cost for myself and my 123 bretheren.

These definitely are..
Four "performance" german made springs for a W123 sedan. Stiffer than stock giving better handling in cornering and highway lane changing.
Also, they are progressive rate (increasing stiffness with increasing load), and will provide a moderate drop. **I will get hard numbers ASAP**

123 Chassis - Sedan [D/DT] and Coupe [CD]
(others were talking about using wagon [TD] springs in sedans/coupes due to increased stiffness.
am not a wagon expert and cannot speak to that; maybe someone can help out with this fitment)

A FULL SET OF 4 - 2 Front and 2 Rear, between $280-$300.

**I am just one of you guys, and taking this one step at a time.
Still trying to figure out the third-party account so everyone can pay into it (and Vogtland directly) and have the springs shipped directly.
Vogtland is a manufacturer, not a retailer, so still connecting these dots. If we can get 15 orders together, they will produce 25 sets.

To this point.. it has been a bit of a infomation session to figure out if there is enough interest to make it happen;
to be able go back to Vogtland with something to actually work with. So please let the questions simply be heard,
and we can work together here and get things figured out like always. If you have an idea, suggestion, help, great!

Are front springs and rear springs the same? I think some people might want to buy two springs... wagon owners for example. Others may not have the funds needed for four springs. If the front and rear are the same and you need 15 sets Vogtland is really looking to sell at least 60 springs immediately in a production runs of 100.

1) you would want to do an alignment AFTER you installed the springs. tough to see, but no not that low. (somewhere in the +/-35mm 1.3" range)
2) front and rear springs are not the same, a set is a set. and don't think you would not want to mismatch with stock on a rig.

thanks for the concerns, keep them coming..

I cannot say that all wagon owners are out of luck.. but it will take a bit more research to figure it out.
Not being a wagon owner, maybe you can talk to other wagon owners to find out what some options are for yourself. bye.

know what you mean, you would want to replace the rear shock shims (thin, stock, or thick) in the back to get your desired stance.

My concerns would be that those springs would lower the car far to much then expected. Due to the weight of the diesel engine.

I had a similar idea of putting vogtland springs with bilstein sports on my W124. But from what GSXR informed me on they wouldnt work with the diesel as they are for a gasser W124. The weight of the diesel would drop them lower then they are supposed to be. So if they are rated for a 1.5in drop they may drop lower and youll end up scrubbing your front end on the floor.

That is why im going with authentic sportline springs, i know they didnt make them for the W123 chassis but i think there was a reason for it. These engines weigh alot!

Refer to this thread i started.

ASFAIK these are engineered for the 123 Diesel. A very valid concern, and will definitely be sure to get a straight answer.
Otherwise.. H&R and Eibach/Sportline are no longer manufactured (for the 123 Diesel). Local spring shops can manufacture one offs,
and cutting springs is always going to beat any deal from a pure cost standpoint.. but am starting to see why we don't have more group buys.
