Euro Lights Installed!

Following deer surgery, Das Boot is back in service with euro lights ... while shop did a good job of installing the assemblies, I don't think they aimed/adjusted them very well.

Can anyone provide some approximate values for adjusting? For instance, are there specs for light throw on low and high beams that I can measure and adjust while sitting level on road (in the dark)?

There are three adjustment knobs - one adjusts up and down, one appears to adjust left to right ... what if the third one for? I tried turning and didn't get any deflection etc that I could tell ... it is the one most inboard ...

Thanks!!

your local mercedes dealership can aim them free of charge

Free? You're kidding ... doesn't seem reasonable to use "free" and "dealership" in the same breath!

Seriously, though - they do this nationally as a public service of some sort?

Thanks!

I take my car on a dark secondary road and aim them the way I like them. I tend to aim a little high on the low beams and I then get great high beams. I put 80 watt yellow bulbs in mine and they are great.

I was surprised too when the dealer adjusted mine for free too. It's part of their safety check. To make it even better, when they opened my hood, they broke my hood pull latch off in the process so I got that replaced and fixed free.:P

Try this - http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/aim/aim.html

I found the beam too low following these instructions I aimed the beams in a similar fashion but against the rear of a typical sedan rather than a measured wall. I set the beams just below the rear window.

The third screw is vertical adjustment of the fog light.

Euro knobs...

The knobs are two part on the vacuum pod types. There is an exterior knob which appears to do massive adjustment (I think this is what he vacuum modified) and interior which is how you adjust the minute changes. 2 verticals and 1 horizontal I believe.

The dealership did NOT align my wifes headlights.
