fuel leak

I have a fuel leak on my 95E300D and I can't find it. I checked all the clear lines and they are OK as are the return lines. I put rags between the engine block and the IP and they got soaking wet overnight. Also, when you look down into the holes where the injectors sit you can see a little fuel at the bottom of the hole but the top of the injectors are dry. If the leak was down in the injector how would that fuel get out??? Anyone else have-had this problem? Any ideas??? Thanks,Jay

Have you ever replaced the injector return lines that travel from injector to injector? Short of a hard line leaking or an injector itself allowing blowby this ought to be the only other source of fuel at the top of the head.

A leak between the block and IP would probably be comming from the delivvery valves or the return line to the fuel tank (am not home so dont have my usual references to reveiw so may be wrong but believe that line attaches with a bango bolt connection up high on the side of the IP).

You also dont mention having checked the o-rings under the pre-filter or those attached to the bolt securing the fuel filter (on some models also serves as a manual kill switch).

Thanks, Terry. I will take another crack at it this afternoon and check those O-rings and replace the return lines. Jay
